For the next 5 days, I am going to be showing off my favorite fall trends, made for plus size bodies. To kick things off I’m showcasing one of my favorite trends- modern bohemian. This trend takes hippy vibes and mixes them with decidedly urban elements to create a new style aesthetic that is both nostalgic and modern.
You can spot this trend cropping up everywhere if you look for the signs. First and foremost- deconstructed denim. Jeans this season provide a variety of washes all with a truly lived in feeling. Expect everything from hole filled denims, to completely reconstructed denims- like this pair from Lovesick.

Second there’s a return of bohemian inspired elements, on refreshing forms. Expect to see unexpected embroidery, folk style prints, and sheer prairie cuts ( like this dress from Eloquii). This shirt is a perfect example- its a refreshed take on a sheer over shirt with a Scandinavian inspired embroidery. The result is a cool way to pop some color, while still rocking an of the time silhouette.

Another unusually pairing is the resurgence of velvet on fashion forward and bold accessories. I am digging velvet chokers- because of my unhealthy love of all things 90s – like this one from alapopjewelery on Etsy. The key is a one per outfit rule, so I added a nod to this other fall fashion trend by adding a little funky chunky crushed velvet to my step.

So I am a sucker for anything that is sequined and sparkly, so it should come as no surprise that I squealed with delight when Ruby + Lilli sent me this amazing plus size T-shirt all the way from Australia. I have used this as an excuse to say shrimp on the barbie 3 times today; listen the shirt demanded it. I just listened.
I feel like today’s outfit was really inspire by my friend Laura who has basically made her career being a cool as all get out tomboy. She works for a global shoe brand. She has done karaoke at celebrities houses. She isn’t a stuck up jerk face. Basically, I want to be her. She’s the type of girl who rocks baggy t-shirts and track pants and still looks like she’s just stepped out cloud of conveniently placed, celebrity alluding fog. As much of a tomboy as I am, no magic fog has ever appeared when I put on a oversized sweatshirt and house pants.
So this is a nod to style I love, but just doesn’t suit me. Like “hello I see you there, lookin’ all cute. I am going to put your thing down flip it an reverse it.” Pairing this t-shirt with something edgy and original was essential, and this funky, faux leather skirt from Eloquii, was a perfect match. PS said skirt is on super clearance right now. No one paid me to say this, but this thing is a boss ass bitch essential and totally worth $24 sale price. This skirt and tee are styled with Sam Edelman cow hide flats, a vintage Ralph Lauren scarf, and collection of bangles and wrist baubles from my travels.

I should note, I’ve really enjoy the spirit of this shirt. It feels girly and at the same time low key and nonchalant. That’s a hard line to walk. I feel like I could easily put this under a blazer and rock it at a meeting; the writing is subtle enough to be both work appropriate and fabulous.
I also just appreciate the blessing that is a really soft t-shirt. The kind you don’t have to wear in. The kind you don’t have to go Edward Scissor Hands on to feel like a woman while wearing it. Comfort, what a novel concept.

Also it goes without saying, I really enjoy brands that unabashedly cater to a broader array of sizes. It’s not an easy thing to do so I applaud Ruby & Lilli for making options for lots of women, versus just a small percentage. We appreciate it, especially when you’re get it oh so so right.

So I had been online stalking Rue 107 for awhile and hemming hawing over buying something. Then two weeks ago, doing my standard plus size fashion scan, my shopping finger basically went into spasms. This suit, it had to be mine. It’s unlike any other swimsuit I have ever seen. It’s sporty and sexy. It’s surprisingly full coverage and it shows a bit of salacious skin. I had no choice I had to buy it.
One thing I always admired about this brand suits is how easily the tops double as well, tops. I mean here I am rocking a brunch outfit, that’s really just a swimsuit with a sporty white skirt thrown over it. And I look good, damn good.
Chuck that skirt to the side, and blamo, sex pot swimsuit of the century. It may be just me, but I believe anything tied with a bow has this naughty little under tone. Unravel that bow, sexy foreign man. It’s go time. Easy access, fashionista style. But, I double knotted these ties, there shall be no accidental strip show. Nope. Nope. Standards shall be maintained.

I’ll just be over hear alluding to your sexual fantasy. But definitely not participating. I’m a good girl after all.Now I am just going to swim off all the allusions I have just made. Chilling out and looking oh so so so fine. Triple snap, hip sashay and hair flip.

Someday my prince will come. Someday I will find the one. Though he’s far away, he’ll find my love someday. Someday when my dreams come true….oh please make my dreams come true
Oh Snow White, we have SOOOOOO much in common. After what seems 3 months of tremendously awful dates, I needed a little something to give a little umph to my perspective. So today I am channeling my inner Snow White in hopes that maybe I’ll gnosh on a bad apple, make friends with a collection of little people with hygiene issues, and finally meet my one true love. Oh man, I hope this doesn’t mean he has to be into brutally murdering forest animals. But that’s a whole other story.

For this plus size Snow White look, I paired a bright yellow
pleated full skirt with a sassy royal blue
flare crop top with a sweetheart neckline. Both items are from the
eloquii. I styled the look with yellow transparent sandals, a red vintage bow tie and an potentially poison apple (it has been on my counter fall too long to still be edible). The look screams Snow White while also having a more modern yet 50s retro vibe that I adore.

Now hair and make up is really where I think I nailed it. Well at least that what I keep telling myself, because it took forever. It’s not easy task to make a long haired girl, look like she’s actually got a rockin’ curly bob. To achieve this I set my hair in teeny tiny foam rollers, heated them and let them set for several hours. Afterwards I finger combed my hair and pinned the blue tips underneath the rest of my hair- the texture of the curl helping to hold the bobby pins. For my make up I paired a red MAC lipstick, with my base foundation, rose cheek and a traditional pin-up eye. I also darkened my eyebrows to add to the vintage feel.

Heading to Paris for work, I wanted to keep my wardrobe simple and my suitcase light. I have a little trick for when I am trying to go to the max with my wardrobe, but at the same time manage the increasingly smallness of my luggage. After years of living on the road and having to still work it like the sassy boss ass bitch I am, I found my balance by committing to the church of color poppin’. Color pops are the simplest form of color blocking and can do MIRACLES for your look. I mean you wear some hot pink pants and no one can ever pay attention that you forgot to do makeup, haven’t slept in 3 days and that there is a piece of bread from the sandwich you ate at 2 am more than little drunk most definitely stuck in your hair. Instead they just gush and co over your sassy fancy pants. Fashion witchcraft!!!! Here’s how I maximized the colors to keep me looking ace while traveling for work in Paris.

On Monday I rocked a pair of hot pink crops from Nordstrom with a black crepe top and patterned, but still neutral bomber. The key when wearing the world’s brightest pants and trying to be professional, is to keep the top simple. However if you aren’t at work, treat those pants as a neutral and go crazy. Just do you!

Tuesday I brought out my favorite chartreuse a-line skirt from Eloquii. I paired it with a check patterned top from Target. the key to this look is to make the top strong enough to support such an unusual and bold color. A plain black top could come off thoughtless and make the look seem as if it was “missing something.” Introducing the subtle pattern makes the style sing and the boys go ooh la la.

On Wednesday I rocked my most favorite clearance rack find- my neon orange moto jacket from target- over a sleek black dress and leggings. To pull this look off, I relied on accessories to tie the deeply contrasting colors. This Oliver Bonas necklace did a rad job of bringing together two cross spectrum colors and made the pairing almost seem obvious.

When you travel, bringing your entire bejeweled caboodle filled of sparkle is not always option. I instead opt for clothing with interesting necklines and pizazz to make the look a stunner even with out my preferred amount of bling. Here I used this amazing secretary pussy bow blouse from Monif C and add a little of snazziness with this cheap yet elegant looking Charlotte Russe tulle skirt. It looks sassy, classy, and leaves nobody thinking “where’s the glint, Glitter?”

Today, I faced the reality that I needed to be comfortable and kept my color blocking look real… real simple. I paired this t-shirt dress with my go to Lola Getts leggings and the bomber jacket. I like that even though I am wearing the same jacket as Monday, changing up the color blocking helps the jacket feel fresh and unique.
So ladies and likely gay gents, that’s how I use color blocking to make the most out of my travel wardrobe. It’s s simple and fun way to make travel clothes stand out with out having to over pack or haul every accessory you own (even though I always want to). So get out there and get get get it poppin’ with some fun colors. It is summer after all!
